Golden Sands Holiday Reviews

(8/10)

Just got back from great holiday.Any critisism here is only meant as constructive as all haven sites are the best in the UK.

Positives...

Good dog walks

I was in my touring van and found the wardens helpful and friendly. The pitches were a bit like sardines with tents and caravans squeezed together but well drained grass.

Nice fishing pond.

Good size heated swimming pool [Free]

The two large clubs were clean with friendly staff,

The entertainment was very good and child friendly as with all haven sites.

Negatives...

Toilet block needed updating .No paper in toilets after about 6pm.Not very clean.

No smoking facilities outside club [so smokers prepare to be wet and cold]

Usual poor quality foods and expensive.

I watched about 200 people buy raffle tickets at £1 each and the only prize was cheep toy.

As with most haven sites I found I was in a small minority who paid the £1 per night for my dog.

Sum up...

Outside school holidays Haven is very good value for money. As with all Haven sites this site is clean with attention paid to detail. The site is next to a clean sandy beech. Next year this will be my second call for holidays [after Haven Reighton sands]

i was born in mablethorpe lived there untill i married a yorkshire man but for 30 years have always gone back even owned a caravan on site for a few years in the 80s

it was the best place to go for holiday makers and locals it was never empty lots of best entertainment and as their is no swimming pool in mablethorpe the local schools used to use the site one ,,

over the years i have seen lots of changes to the actual park and buildings and entertainment.. the park and actual night life is much better more modern and stylish , but the entertainment and staffing in all areas has sadley lacked proberly due to cuts in employment and monies involved . but they used to have children entertainers resident bands compere and still bring in main acts for every night of the week ..

we went last week with our grandchildren and yes the shows are good for children but who wants to sit on their bottom and watch 20mins of a show evrynight and no tiger time dances th! is used to be the highlight of the childrens holiday a hour and a half of fun dancers with haven m8s mums and dads all joining in then watching the live entertainer then at 10.30 a big named act both the family room and the galleon room used to be in full swing now sadley its all changed not much goin off in the family room and the huge galleon was empty most of the week

a truely sad dicline from the fun times i remember.. as i have never been anywhere else but haven i think i will try butlins next year

I stayed here with my husband and two children in April 2010 we had a great time, the staff were friendly and helpful.

The food was a bit expensive and it was just ok. The kids shows were good. the beach was lovely (golden sands). Maplethorpe is just a short walk with local shops and a co-op/lidle.

The pool was ok my 7yr boy loved the slide the changing rooms were cold due to the doors being left open the whole park was very clean and so was the caravan.

Not the best park i've been to but I would go again.

My sister and i booked this for a long weekend at the beginning of sept of our families and 4 children we stayed on the camping site. it was awful, they was just a dirt track through the tents and when it rained it was like a mud bath. the showers were full of daddy long legs, and they where dirty.

We spend most of our time in the complex the restraunt was good meals were good, bar was very expensive, entertainment okay, but it was that far away from the tents we had to take the car!!

Staff were  okay, no security on the tenting site, and fights where nearly every night, to accompany drunken beaviour. we complained but nothing happened.
we would not go there again.

I booked my visit to Golden Sands at the last minute as a treat for my daughter.

Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, but when I got to my caravan the smell of wet dog was almost unbearable and the loo smelt of wee. I had taken cleaning wipes to keep clean with and wiped the floor with one of them to find the wipe black!!. I called reception to complain and to be fair they said they would send the cleaner around again (didn't look like they had been in the first place) I said that I would try and get by. But later also noticed that the floor was covered with black dog hair and it was pot luck as to weather the tap in the kitchen would turn off. Reception told me that all the standard caravans were available to pet owners, I wasn't made aware of this when I booked.

Apart from the horrible caravan, and the tap that dripped, the other parts of the holiday were great, the evening entertainment was just up my daughters street, I have to mention at this point that the carpet could do with a good clean as I couldnt help but notice that it was very sticky and so were the tables.

All the staff very friendly, but I was surprised that the entertaintment stopped at 2pm and started again at 6pm.

Stayed here for a few days. In this time there were two fights one of which was between people that were Not staying onsite. Security was very slack.

Staying here on my own with 3 children was scary!!! I put a complaints form in and was told someone would contact me. They never did and that was over 2 months ago.

Wouldn't want to stay here again.
