I have just returned from a 4 night break 20-24th of october at the wild duck. Overall the holiday was good, perhaps beca use there was a family group of 8 of us which stopped us getting bored.
The site lacks in facilities and those they do have are not well equipped/stocked. This was perhaps because it was the end of seaon but i just feltsomething was lacking.
The welcome pack advertised a bakery in the convenience store. The staff there tolod me only at larger places. The only cake they had in site was a flapjack! Dont rely on thispalce to stock up for ffod for your stay, bring your own, or visit tesco 10 minutes away because there was nothing there to make any form of meal really. They did say they were runnin g everything thing down however for end of season.
I decided to eat from the reastaurant. Again low in supplys. I ordered a omelette breakfast, to find they had no omelettes or bread, though they di dhave eggs! Half thethings were off the tea time menu too!
The chip van was ok though, the staff very friendly, and not tOo badly priced.
The pool was basic but warm, their is a slide, but that was out of order, there are inflatalbes but these were save for adult possibly staffpartys in the evening!
There was no clubs runnig for the kids either... again out of season i guess/
The arcade was very small, but did the job, kept the older kids entertained but some of the machines were out of order and there was no warninig until the money went!
The evening entertianment is based around the one club that does kids shows until 8.30 ish nd adults after, the kidsand adults both enjoyed these, varied, funny but money grabbing!
There was an area with a bouncy castle, train, trampoline , and inflatable slide there, but this swallowed up money also. we were the only family there and it cost £1.50 a token for each seperate ride, for which you get 6 minutes. this grumpy old man ensured we did not go over the 6 minutes, and tried charging me to ride on this little train with my 2 year old!
The best thing about the holiday was the accomodation, it was immacuately clean, and it was nice set in woodlands with squirrels and rabbits running buy youyr caravan. There is also your own carparking space beside your caravan so your not rushing to get parked at checkin.
Maybe i just had a bad experience coz of the time of year butI dont think i would go back again.
